Cover Reveal Day!

So today was cover reveal day for Housing Elephants! I was so excited to share this beautiful thing with everyone.

It was designed by the wonderful L J Stock, who is not only an amazing author but also a wizard with graphs too. She has designed my whole package, banners, teasers, everything, and has done a stunning job.

Check her out here...

It's just a short one tonight folks...

Have a wonderful weekend if I don't get a chance to post again.

Massive thanks to all who helped to spread the word today.

NaNoWriMo

So I've signed up to National Novel Writing Month with a bit of arm twisting from a fellow author and friend.

It's something I've always wanted to do but have never felt I can commit to. I am still not sure I'll make the 50k, but I am ready to give it my best shot. The ideas for a new manuscript have been rattling around in my head for a good while now, so I am going to use NaNo as an excuse to get them written down.

Things in Housing Elephants land are hotting up. I finished my final read through tonight. I'm hopefully getting one more person to read it before I send it off to get formatted on Monday. And then it's pretty much a wrap!

More exciting than that though is the fact that in three sleeps time it is my cover reveal! I'm so giddy for this, mostly cause it's not me who is on show, rather my wonderful graphics person, L J Stock, who also happens to be a really talented author.

I gave her my synopsis and she ran with it, creating a stunning set of graphics for promotion and the all important book cover. It's seriously beautiful. So stay tuned, on Friday and you will get to see the final version.

Bare Naked Words are hosting it and I got the schedule tonight... Over eighty blogs have signed up as part of this! That's a crazy amount of exposure! Really quite scary.

So anyway, I just wanted to duck in and say hi seeing as I haven't written for a little while. I'll be back on Friday, if not before.

Ooooh... And I have my first official review. 5* - can you believe it? You can read it on the Gooddreads page.

Fly, baby. Fly...

So today, I announced Housing Elephants to my real life friends and family...

Wow! I am overwhelmed by the response I have received. I really didn't think that many people would be interested. So many of them want to read it, which means I'm now even more scared! Having strangers read it was vomit inducing enough, but now my dad might read it!

Sorry, Dad! Please remember it's the characters talking, not me!

And that's the weird thing... It is the characters talking. They have a life of their own and it was them who wrote the story. That might sound crazy to anyone else, but ask any of my author friends and they will tell you. There were points in the story where I had no idea what was going to happen, sat down to type and they just took me there. There were other points where I thought I knew exactly where it was headed, I'd sit down to type and they took it in a completely different direction. I can't explain it really. It just is. So yeah... That bad language and the sex stuff, it's not me, ok, Dad?

So only ten days until the all important cover reveal! I can't wait to show it to you all! It's stunning! I think I've said this already!

Anyhow, it's bedtime for this author!

Night guys!

Sorry!

I knew this would happen!

I always have good intentions, but life gets so crazily busy, that little things like this go by the wayside.

Anyway, I'm here now.

I took part in Victoria L James' First Release Birthday Blog Hop this week.

Check her out here... She is ridonc!

I was stop 33, and I have to say, I'm amazed at how many new people have taken the time to like my page. I'm bowled over really. Little old me currently has 338 likes on my facebook author page now!

You too can connect with this newbie here:

You can even be my friend on my author profile whose url is not so neat, nor short and sweet! I'm sure there's a way for me to make it into an actual link but I haven't fathomed it yet.

Another day closer...

In seventeen days, my beautiful book cover, created and designed by the wonderfully talented L J Stock, will be revealed to all. I'm rather excited about this part of the proceedings, mainly 'cause it's not me who is on show and up for scrutiny. I can promote the shit out of it without looking like I'm showing off!

LJ is also an ridiculous wordsmith. Check out the links to all her pages...

I've kind of unofficially, officially told everyone my release date as well, which is kinda not that scary because it wasn't a huge announcement. Once my banner goes up though, it will be broadcast a bit more.

Anywa... It's been a long day today, so I am going to crawl under my duvet and hopefully wake refreshed and new for the day ahead!

Ciao, trumpeters!

Monday 12 October 2015

Editor's note...

So I woke up this morning to an email from my official editor and chief saying that she'd finished red-penning Housing Elephants and that we needed to talk. She used shouty capitals and everything!

It seems the book left her heart broken and needing more, which blew me away really, as that's exactly the reaction any author wants. She used the words 'amazing' and 'beautiful' and 'congratulations', which again took me aback a little. I'm thrilled she enjoyed it.

If you want an editor, look no further by the way... Here is the link to her Facebook page...

She's also a writer. Check her out here!

That's all I want, for people to enjoy it. It was never about praise or recognition. I just want people to get something out of it, and the more people that get something out of it, the happier I'll be. As I said yesterday, I'm really proud of myself for doing this, but ultimately, I wanted to create something that other people wanted to devour.

Here's hoping.

It's late. I should be asleep. I'm my own worst enemy. I'm off to bed.

Night trumpeters x

Lazy Sundays

I have spent the morning self promoting. I cringe every time I do it because I find it so incredibly narcissistic, but in this dog eat dog world of indie authors I'm starting to understand that if you want people to notice you, you've got to stamp and shout and shake those maracas.

I do have a wonderful group of cheerleaders who constantly pimp me out at every opportunity and help to spread the word, and that helps loads.

I've been sharing links to my official promotions today. I'm having a cover reveal, a release day blitz and a blog tour.

Everything seems to be snow balling really quickly and I feel almost powerless to stop it now! Not that I will. I wouldn't be allowed! Too maybe people behind me would refuse to let me I think!

My plan is to write every day, but please don't judge if I don't!

Have a great Sunday

This shit is getting real...

I have wanted to write a book for so long, and now I have done it, there is a little part of me that wishes I hadn't bothered!

Dates have been set, a cover has been made, it is in the process of being edited and I am quite frankly scared shitless.

Whoever thought this was a good idea?

Don't get me wrong, I am immensely proud of myself for doing it, for actually sitting down and writing over 100, 000 words.

That isn't the problem,

The problem is, now some of you lot might read it! And it might not cut it. It might not be what you want, and I might have to tell myself to walk away from the whole thing and not bother again. That makes me sound pessimistic. I'm not. I'm a realist.

I am currently reading How to Build a Girl by Caitlin Moran - it's hilarious by the way, and you should all pick up a copy. I'm nearly finished in fact, and I know without a doubt that I am not even half the writer she is. She has an incredible way with words, and I read her stuff and laugh at my own, not because it is funny, but because it is laughable in comparison.

However, we should not compare ourselves with others, and this is something I am trying to get my head around.

I have done it, and I will publish it and see...

Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Welcome to my new blog by the way - I hope you stop by again.
